How to paint a whole row of stitches in a crochet chart

Choose a stitch, drag along a row, and the whole row is filled in one sweep.

Steps

  1. Start a Rectangular chart. It begins with a foundation chain along the bottom.

  2. Choose the Add/Paint Stitches tool (or press B on the keyboard) on the left toolbar.

  3. In the panel on the right, open Suggested Stitches and choose Double crochet.

  4. Press at the right end of row 1, the first row above the foundation chain, and drag left along the row. Chain One draws the starting chain (chain 3 for double crochet) and fills every other cell with a double crochet.

  5. Turn your work. Row 2 opens at the left, so press at the left end of row 2 and drag right. Its starting chain appears at the start of the row.

Good to know

One sweep, one undo

A whole drag counts as one action, so one undo (Ctrl+Z on Windows, Cmd+Z on a Mac) takes back the whole row.

It stays on your row

While you drag, the tool paints only along the row you started on, even if your hand wobbles up or down.

One stitch at a time

A single click places a single stitch. Dragging fills a row.
