How to make and save a combo in a crochet chart

A combo is a group of stitches you save once and place again whenever you need it. Select the stitches, group them and press Save to My Combos. You will find the combo in My Combos.

Steps

  1. On the Freehand canvas, place the stitches you want to reuse, for example a semicircle of 2 double crochet, a chain 3 arch and 2 more double crochet. Arrange them any way you like: you can move and rotate each one.

  2. The Select tool is already active. Drag a box around all the stitches to select them.

  3. On the small toolbar above the selection, press Group (or Ctrl+G on Windows, Cmd+G on a Mac), so the stitches stay together.

  4. Press Save to My Combos on the same toolbar.

  5. Open My Combos on the right. Your new combo is at the top of the list, named after its stitches.

  6. To use it, click the small picture of the combo, then click an empty spot on the chart. A copy is placed there.

Good to know

Two stitches or more

A combo needs at least two stitches. With only one stitch selected, the Save to My Combos button does not appear.

Rename or delete

In My Combos, click a combo's name to rename it, or delete a combo you no longer need.

Ready for your next chart

In Chain One Studio, your combos are saved, so the group you made today is there the next time you start a chart. In the practice frame on this page, a combo is kept only until you press Start again.

Leave the magic ring out

A chart can have only one magic ring, so a combo with a magic ring in it would place everything except the ring. Save the stitches you work around the ring, and keep the ring out of the combo.
